1.3 Research Questions
Research questions for this study are:

1. After lockdown, how have customers’ perception of food retailers adapted to
meet customers’ demands?
2. How has COVID-19 been affecting customer buying habits when shopping in
food retailers?
1.4 Aims and objectives
The overall research aim of this study is to investigate how COVID-19 has been affecting
consumer demands, habits and food retailers’ response using the framework of crisis
management theory Fink’s crisis model, Mitroff five stages and Jacques relational model.
Research objectives:
1. To explore how consumer demands and habits have changed due to the COVID-19
pandemic.
2. To explore consumers’ perception of food retailers’ response to changing consumer
demands and habits.
3. To explore how changing consumer demands and habits have affected the new way
of food retailers operate during times of COVID-19.
