A.      Introduction:

In this final unit, you will apply all the learningthroughout stages 4,5,6 tocreate a distinctive pieceofworkforyourdegreeproject.Yourfinalportfoliowillimplementaseriesofoutcomes thatevaluatesandanalysestheformationofyourconcept.Throughinvestigativequantitative and/orqualitive research, examiningthekey areas of yourpracticetodeliver a new business plan.

Youwillbeexpectedtoconsiderthetheoreticalandprofessionalcontextsofyourexploration. Itisimportantthatyourworkandresearcharecontemporary,innovative,andrepresentative of its target audience and industry sector.

Equipped with this knowledge, you will be able to determine a forward thinking and sustainable new business opportunity that demonstrates a process of critical evaluation and presents a suitable proposal through to final implementation.

 

B.      Tasks:

You are required to produce two independent, but interrelated, project reports and an in-class presentation as per the task description below:

I.                    DegreeProjectPortfolio1–NewBusinessProposal(2500words)andin-class presentation (15 minutes) (40% weight):

  1. Based on your learnings for the courses you have studied as a part of the BSc (Hons)degreeinBusinessManagement,identify abusinessgapwhichoffersa promising business opportunity. A business gap is a gap in the market with an opportunity to offer something that customers desire, but businesses are currently not offering. In this context, the term “gap” refers to the difference between supply and demand for the offering.
  2. Yourbusinessgapidentificationshouldbesupportedbyevidencebasedonthe review of secondary sources (examples: reports, surveys, articles, etc.).
  • Proposeacreativebusinessideaandclearlyexplainhowtheproposedbusiness willaddresstheidentifiedgap.Youwillbestartinganewcompany;thatis,the new offering cannot be a new product or service that will be offered by an existing company.
  1. The structure ofthe NewBusiness Proposal report (Portfolio 1) shouldinclude the following sections:
    1. ExecutiveSummary
    2. IntroductionandBackground
    3. ReviewofSecondarySources
    4. BusinessIdeaandSupportingRationale
    5. UniqueandCreativeFeaturesofthe Business

  2. After completion and submission of the Portfolio 1 report, you will present an overview of your report during a 15-minute in-class presentation. The 15- minutepresentationwillincludea10-minutepitchofyourbusinessideaand5 minutes of questions-and-answers. Include the use of a PowerPoint presentation (no more than 10 slides) as part of your in-class presentation.

You will separately upload the three components of the Final Project (Portfolio 1 – BusinessProposal,Portfolio1–PowerPointpresentation,andPortfolio2—BusinessPlan) on Canvas as per the instructions from the Examination and Assessment Department, BSBI.

E.      General:

  • Students must follow the research ethics (including plagiarism guidelines) of the University for the Creative Arts whilst working on the project.
  • StudentsmustfollowthegeneralBSBIguidelinesregardingformattingand editing of the text as prescribed for writing Essays.

 

GUIDANCEON ASSESSMENT

All materials must be properly referenced under Harvard conventions. The length required is 2500 words for Portfolio 1 and 3500 words for Portfolio 2 with tasks equally weighted. Thewritingstyleshouldbe formalacademic /Assignment writingstylewithin-textreferencingtosupportyour comments andobservations. Originality,quality ofargumentand good structure are required. The essay should demonstrate sound understanding and ability to apply knowledge and theory of Digital Economy & Transformation. Additional marks are awarded for juxtaposition and insight of issues.
