BUS 520
BUS 520: Ethics - Book Report Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to provide you extra content that would not otherwise be available.
Each of you is to write one book review. Please email me with regard to your book choice. Also, please
review a book that you have not previously read.
Book Review Format:
For the report itself, use the following headings and instructions:
 Book: Give author, date, title, publication place and publisher, using a bibliography format. (Single
Space.)
 Author: Tell as much as you can about the author in one paragraph, especially information
important to an understanding of this particular work. (Single Space.)
 Thesis: State the primary thesis of the book in no more than 3-4 sentences. (Single Space.)
 Major Sections: Give a short overview of the book’s outline in summary paragraphs, showing how
each section develops an aspect of, or gives support for, the main thesis. (Single Space; not more
than 1 – 2 pages.)
 Reaction: Your personal reaction to the author’s thesis and its development (positively, negatively
or both). React in relation to your own opinion, experience and perspective on the subject matter
presented. (Single Space; not less than 1 page nor more than 3 pages.) NOTE: This is a critical
part of the review and demands your special attention.
 Recommendation: Indicate whether you recommend this book for outside reading by your fellow
students. Provide a few sentences explaining why. (Single Space.)
You should read in your book each week. The due date is published in Blackboard.
Book Suggestions: If you have not read the following books, they may be a good place to start. You
can also pick another appropriate book (if you aren’t sure, get approval by the prof).
