Based upon this principle the first part of this semester’s assignment invites you to:
Task: Design an online HR skill development learning session for HR professionals (should comprise
materials for approx. 30mins learning)
In order to design this online HR skill development session, you should:
1) Select one of the following strategic HR leadership areas which are listed under the CIPD’s
Core Behaviours:

• Leadership of mediation and dispute resolution

2) Research your selected strategic HR leadership area using academic and practitioner sources
3) Identify one specific skill from within this broad strategic HR leadership area
4) Write a case-study of your experience/s of this skill, using the template provided on Bb (you
should use and reflect upon this case-study within the development session you design)
5) Design the online development session. The focus of this session should be upon enabling
the learners to develop the one skill that you have identified. However, you will need to
contextualise by referring to the knowledge that underpins this skill. Your development
session should be:
o Informed by academic and practitioner literature and
o Using your team members’ personal case-studies and
o Drawing upon the principles of effective learning and development
